The Link Group is thrilled with the continued support and involvement of the whole village community towards events and fund-raising. The recent Village Fete is an excellent example and we are very grateful to Ruth Warren and Clare Norrie, for their tremendous efforts in organising this year’s fete, raising money for the Church and Link Group funds. We were also very pleased to see that the evening party was so well attended with new faces joining us for the first time and some “regular” visitors keeping the wine and conversations flowing! For those who joined us, I think we would all like to say well done to Sally Jones for the idea of inviting the “Line Dancing Duo” to entertain us, ensuring even the most clumsy of us were able to enjoy the fun.
From the Fete, the Christmas Party and other donations, the Link Group is very grateful to have a pot of money, which now allows us to fulfill our promises and plans to facilitate and deliver projects, events and recreational facilities for the village, in line with villagers’ previous requests and the general idea of building and supporting the total community. As an immediate start towards this, we are donating £200 to the Village Hall, who have generously not charged us for use of their facilities to date and we are also purchasing new picnic tables for the playing field and some sporting equipment for everyone’s free use. You will see in this newsletter an invitation to join us in “launching” these new facilities at our Village Sports Day and we hope to see you there!
As the Link Group are responsible to account for its funds and expenditures, we have appointed Nicky Minter as Treasurer and will have accounts available for all to see at relevant times during the year. As well, we continue to welcome the constant participation and ideas from all villagers on what community projects, facilities and events you would like the Link Group to support in the future and we will be planning an Open Meeting in September for anyone interested to join us.
Finally, as with all the groups in South Wraxall, we are villagers ourselves donating our time and efforts to help support the village and we have greatly valued the encouragement and trust given to us over the last 18 months, particularly during this recent fund-raising period. Thank you!
