I spoke with Wiltshire Council again yesterday and work is still in progress to bring ‘superfast’ broadband to the village. Fibre optic cable is currently being installed from Bradford-on-Avon to the new cabinet in the Lower Village. The project is scheduled for completion in 2014 but there is no firm commitment from the Council that this goal will be achieved. I expect to receive a further update after the Council’s review meeting with BT Openzone on December 17th.
Remember, you won’t have to order the improved service from BT, most of the leading internet service providers will probably be able to deliver the higher speed connection but it is likely to cost more than the current one in most instances.
