Breakfast News

From Jean Atkin:

All of us at St James’s wish to say a big ‘Thank you’ to villagers and guests who joined us for breakfast on Sunday. The breakfasts continue to be friendly social occasions for the whole community, with people staying a long time to chat with friends old and new.

We appreciate your support and encouragement, and the regular team have been very grateful for all the extra offers of help with washing-up. Your generous donations are helping to build a fund for annual maintenance of the church fabric – stonework, woodwork, ironwork, etc, etc.

As well as continuing to look after this building which has served generations of villagers, we also need to improve facilities and make it a place which will benefit and appeal to as many people as possible. One major project under consideration is the installation of a new sound system which will greatly improve the quality of use, especially for large gatherings such as weddings, funerals and concerts.

A second project is the renovation and repair of the stained-glass windows. (An expert described the West window as particularly noteworthy.) We  have identified grants for work on the windows and these are more accessible if we can match the funding.

Last Sunday’s breakfast realised £492, after the deduction of expenses. So thank you once again for your help.
